#7 Aston Martin DB5
All hail the most famous car in the world!
Why I’d drive one:
Just standing next to this car makes you look cool. Seriously, … Look!
This is a phenomenal gran tourer. A 4.0L straight 6 engine putting out 282 bhp at 5,500 rpm. Being a 2+2 coupe this car also fits the “grocery bags” and “more than one friend” requirement. This particular entry on the list borders on dream car daily driver.
Why I wouldn’t own one:
With great power comes great responsibility.
This vehicle is a celebrity, and celebrities often live secluded lives away from the general public. Owning this car would mean living a similar life or having a second car. It would be a travesty to hide away such a machine.
Another take on the great responsibility of owning a DB5 is that one is simply a steward of a car of this stature. There would be a worry every where I went about how the car was doing. I wouldn’t be brave enough to park this at the grocery store or mall parking lot. I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere except out for a drive and back. That’s great for indulging in driving pleasure, but you lose the practicality of an owner’s car.
With a used, non-provenanced example going for around $450,000 and only 1,000 ever built. Finding an affordable one would be rare. So perhaps this really is a dream car.
